Inconsistent Woods picks up 37th

Tiger Woods' return to competitive action was dogged by inconsistency and poor touch around the greens.

However, the former world number one said he was satisfied with his 37th-place finish, 18 shots off the lead, after 12 weeks out of the game with knee and Achilles tendon injuries.

His final round started off with good golf as he picked up two birdies in the first five holes, before a disastrous run of three bogeys and a double bogey from the sixth to the 13th.

Wearing his trademark final day red Nike golf shirt, Woods managed to recover with birdies of 15, 16 and 17, finishing the tournament on one-over.

"I hit it really well and then I'd lose it and get it back. I'm still struggling with my alignment and trusting the fact that the ball doesn't shape as much as it used to," Woods said.

The former world number one will head to Atlanta for the USPGA with Bryon Bell on his bag after he sacked Steve Williams two weeks ago.
