Golf clothing innovators FootJoy are committed to "Making Every Day Playable" through development of their new HydroSeries waterproofs, and it's music to the ears of all year round golfers.
This September we launched the latest product line of FootJoy waterproofs and outerwear, which is being labelled the most complete range in golf. FootJoy recently held a testing day at Archerfield Links and we were invited to attend. The Autumnal Scottish weather lived up to expectation and we were able to gain a fantastic insight into how these products performed in the wet. The tough test provided by the Fidra course was magnified by the strong wind and varying rain conditions coming in from the North Sea.
The FootJoy HydroSeries waterproofs range features the all-new HydroTour, and updated versions of the HydroLite and HydroKnit products, complimenting the requirements of all level of golfer.
The FJ HydroTour waterproof is FootJoy’s most innovative rain jacket to date and has been designed to protect in the harshest of weather conditions. When testing this product we were most impressed by the DrySeal collar, a two layer system where the inner collar has a pull cord for a snug fit and the outer collar allows water to be released through small drainage holes. A simple idea and effective idea that prevents water running down the back of your neck and also looks good with the contrast metal holes. The 3-panel design with fewer seams and premium multi-directional stretch fabric, also nicely prevents the common swing restrictions.
FJ HydroTour waterproofs are available in two colourways; Black/Charcoal/Lime and Navy/Black/Red, both priced at £189.
FJ HydroLite is the mid market jacket in the range; a well crafted lightweight waterproof garment, with plenty of breathability and stretch, making it more suitable in warmer conditions. Tested on a warm and wet summers day at Archerfield, we opted to wear this jacket for most of the round and were more than happy with the level of breathability. The thinner lightweight fabric also meant that the waterproofs packed more neatly into the golf bag when not required.
HydroLite waterproof jackets are available in 5 colourways, including two colours with a tonal marble effect across the chest and selling at £145.
The third jacket in the collection is the FootJoy Hydroknit waterproof, a more versatile garment which is styled to fit like a mid layer, with the performance of a rain jacket. First launched two years ago, the latest version hits the market with a few significant design upgrades to further improve it's playability. Four-way stretch fabric ensures freedom of movement, whilst a DWR fabric treatment provides bead-off protection. Hand pockets have also been added for when the temperature drops.
The FJ HydroKnit waterproof jacket is available in three colourways, and will likely never leave your bag due to it’s packable design. This is available now at £129.
There are two pairs of waterproof trousers on offer to go with the jackets. The HydroTour trouser which is designed for cooler playing conditions and is packed with innovation. This is a regular fit pant, that allows for golf trousers to be warn underneath for extra warmth, with four-way stretch fabric for increased comfort.
The HydroTour trouser comes in black only and retails at £145.
Finally, the HydroKnit waterproof trouser provides the ultimate in playability without compromising any performance aspects. Designed as a stand alone trouser with a tapered fit, the gripper tape waistband should help to keep base-layers tucked in and retain heat. A 2.5 layer lightweight stretch fabric, alongside a DWR finish gives full rain protection. An inner scorecard pocket has also been added to protect this from the elements.
The HydroKnit trouser is available in Black and Navy , and retails at £129.
