On Friday 20th August, adidas is releasing a new golf shoe capsule that presents a new outlook on colour; you don't always need it.
The adidas No-Dye Collection includes three shoe styles, where the upper is used in the material's natural colourway. By using the natural form of the material, the brand uses less water, energy and chemicals in the production process, making the No-Dye golf shoes a more sustainable option.
adidas Golf have chosen to run the adicross ZX Primeblue golf shoe and new ZG21 Motion BOA and lace versions in No-Dye. A very hot selection as you can see from the article images.
The Big Saving
The creation process, in particular the dyeing part, is a water-thirsty business, and because adidas create so many products, they are always researching and testing new ways to minimise impact on the environment. When naturally coloured fabric is used, an average saving of 60 percent is made on water and energy. So advancements in the way factories use water to dye materials is hugely important.
Masun Denison, global director of footwear at adidas Golf had this to say.
“We’re continually evaluating ways to reduce our environmental impact when it comes to our products. We want to give golfers another reason beyond style and performance to feel good about the shoes they’re wearing, and this collection allows them to make a positive difference in the world – all while playing the sport they love.”
These adidas No-Dye golf shoes will give golfers a distinct look as the head out on to the fairways. Beyond this, all the styles in this capsule are also part of adidas' mission to help end plastic waste. Here are a few more specifics about the shoes.
adicross ZX Primeblue
A hot new addition this season and inspired by the adidas Originals ZX series, the adicross ZX Primeblue No-Dye taps into a timeless franchise that has been part of adidas' brand story for more than 30 years. This version features the adiwear and Traxion outsole, to give us golfers all the grip we need. Coupled with added stability from the signature Torsion bar unit. The shoe's upper is made from a minimum of 50% Parley Ocean Plastic yarn, to support the mission to end plastic waste.
adidas ZG21 Motion / ZG21 Motion BOA®
The adidas ZG21 that was introduced by the brand back in January, has now been made more sustainable and is launched under the moniker ZG21 Motion. This extra special no-dye version tees up another chapter for the ZG21 golf shoe, by incorporating a textile upper, manufactured with a minimum of 50% recycled content. There is also the introduction of a new BOA® model that features a sock-like opening for added stability. Also, a brand new PerformFit™ Wrap powered by the BOA Fit System. This ‘Y’-strap design offers a more secure fit over the instep of the foot, and provides flexibility and freedom in the toe box.
These shoes will go on sale in limited quantities, here at Function18.com from 07:00 BST on Friday 20th August.
