Woods confident of US PGA victory

Tiger Woods has said he expects to claim victory at the US PGA event this week.

When he dons his Nike golf shoes today he will be looking for a good start as he is hoping to pick up the Wanamaker trophy for the fifth time.

The former world number one, who now sits at 30th in the world, has not claimed a tournament victory since the Australian Masters in 2009, but he feels he has the form to win in Atlanta.

"My feel is starting to come back. I've been away from the game for a while, but I'm starting to get the feel of hitting shots and how far the ball is going," he explained.

Woods also used his pre-tournament press conference to discuss the issue of Steve Williams.

"I was happy to see Stevie and Adam win," he said. "I sent Stevie a nice text after completion of play congratulating him on his win. It was good to see them go out there and play as well as they did."

Woods will play alongside former major winner Padraig Harrington and Davis Love III.
