Jhonattan Vegas has won the Bob Hope Classic to clinch his first title on the US PGA Tour start.
The big-hitting Venezuelan was donning his golf clothing on the Tour for just the fifth time but overcame a wobbly finish to secure the victory.
Having ranked third in distance in La Quita and 13th in accuracy, the 26-year-old became the first man from Venezuela to claim a Tour win after fighting off the challenge of Bill Haas and Gary Woodland in a three-man play-off.
The trio had finished tied on 27-under after Haas closed with a 66 to catch the overnight joint-leaders, who both carded 69s.
They returned to the 18th for the first play-off hole and defending champion Haas was the first to fall after his five was trumped by two birdies from the other two competitors.
Vegas eventually seals the win on the par-four 10th after recovering superbly from a tee-shot which landed in the water hazard.
"This is a dream come true, just making it happen is something else," said the South American.
