Simon Dyson cleans up at the Irish Open

Simon Dyson claimed top spot at the Irish Open at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club to pick up a massive €250,000.

The Yorkshireman, wearing a black Nike golf shirt and white golf trousers, carded a final round of 67 to edge out Richard Green by a single shot.

Dyson's win guarantees he will be packing his golf clothing and golf shoes for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio.

The win continues a good run of form for Dyson after he finished the recent Open as the best Englishman in a tie for ninth.

"This is the best golf I've ever played," said Dyson.

"I played great at the Open and I've brought my form here which is very pleasing."

Dyson will be competing against Tiger Woods in Ohio as the former number one recently announced he would be making his long-awaited return at the event.

The field at the Irish Open included a number of former major winners including Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington, all of whom finished well down the leaderboard.
