Rory McIlroy shares the lead in Ohio

Rory McIlroy has lived up to his fast-starter tag by producing a fine opening round in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.

The Northern Irishman, who has led a number of tournaments recently, birdied the final three holes to ensure a share of the lead with Chris Riley.

Riley and McIlroy's 66s put them one shot clear of US trio Chris DiMarco, Josh Teater and Scott Stallings.

Luke Donald continued his good run of form with a solid 70, which leaves him just four shots off the pace going into the second round.

The world number one would have been a lot closer to the leaders if it wasn't for a double bogey on the 18th hole.

Defending champion Justin Rose, who is hoping to kick start his season with a good performance in Ohio, finds himself five shots off the pace following a one under first round.
