Poulter uses criticism to fuel his positivity

Ian Poulter has never been afraid to stick his head above the parapet - but that does mean he sometimes attracts some unwanted attention.

In an interview with Golf.com, the IJP Design golf clothing ambassador admitted that he does get more than his fair share of flack.

An avid user of microblogging site Twitter, the 34-year-old has courted controversy with some of his tweets, including a picture of his kids eating cereal from the Ryder Cup trophy and a dig at darts player Phil Taylor.

But Poulter insisted that he used the criticism in a positive way.

"I don't like being criticised, but I use every bit of criticism as a positive energy," he told the news provider.

"It can be damaging, it can hurt, but I've used it to spur me on to better things. I've always been pretty honest, so that draws a little bit of hate from people. You can't please everybody."
