Ian Poulter has recalled a touching moment he shared with Seve Ballesteros at the Open in 2006.
Poulter was paired with the legend in his last Open and Poulter decided to bring a bit of fun to proceedings by wearing a specially designed pair of golf trousers which featured the silhouette of the famous Claret Jug.
When Seve saw Poulter's attire, he joked: "That's the nearest you'll get to holding the trophy."
Poulter told the Daily Mail that the great man wrote him a personal letter apologising for the dig and said he had gone too far.
However, the Brit doesn't see it that way: "Banter with a legend? I loved it."
Poulter will no doubt be wowing the crowds at Sawgrass during The Players Championship with an array of alternative on-course attire.
Tiger Woods is due to make his comeback from injury at the event, which many golf experts describe as the unofficial fifth major due to the quality of the field.
