Oxfordshire due qualify for Open Championship

A pair of golfers from Oxfordshire will be packing their golf clothing for a trip to Royal St George's, Sandwich, next month.

Adam Wooton and Craig Hinton have secured a spot in the all-star field after great results in official qualifying events.

Wootton, who has been an Oxford City member for more than ten years, finished second in his qualifying event at Rye, in Kent.

Hinton, who is still an amateur, won his event at Royal Cinque Ports, in Kent to bag his spot in the field for the third major of the season.

Rory McIlroy and Charl Schwartzel, who claimed the previous majors this season will be teeing off in the event.

However, some important names in the world of golf, 2012 Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal and former Open winner Tiger Woods are unlikely to be fit enough to play in this year's event with back and leg injuries respectively.
