Monty to double up on his duties in Thailand

Colin Montgomerie will be a busy man as he captains and plays for the European side in the Royal Trophy in Thailand.

The tournament gets underway tomorrow (Friday January 7th) and Monty, who led Europe to glory in the Ryder Cup, will double up on his duties this time as he dons his golf clothing.

His opponents this time will not be the US, but instead he will pit his wits against an Asian team lead by Joe Ozaki.

The fifth edition of the team contest will take place at Black Mountain Golf Club in Thailand, with Europe looking for a fourth victory.

Last year's competition was close-fought affair, with Monty's charges eventually winning by just one point.

Although none of the Ryder Cup-winning players will be taking part in Thailand, the line-up remains strong, featuring the likes of Henrisk Stenson, Peter Hanson and Italian prodigy Matteo Manassero.
