Major winners to skip Tour opener

The 2011 PGA Tour season gets underway next week, but only one of this year's major winners will be vying for the title.

Plantation Course will host the Hyundai Tournament of Champions with Graeme McDowell the only one of the four major winners set to take part.

While the US Open Champion is out on the course in his golf clothing, fellow major winners Louis Oosthuizen, Martin Kaymer, and Phil Mickleson will not be making an appearance.

British Open winner Oosthuizen was set to take part but had a last-minute change of heart and will now compete in the European Tour's Africa Open.

"I decided not to go and play the two tournaments in Hawaii because that won't leave me with enough off time before the start of the new season," Oosthuizen told europeantour.com.

Other big names who have decided to give the tournament a miss include Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.
