Liverpool could be a top golfing destination in the coming years, according to the chief executive of the English Golf Union.
Golf clothing could become as common a sight as football shirts in Liverpool, according to John Petrie, who spent his university years in Merseyside and thinks the city is located near a number of great golf courses.
"There is no better place as a golfing destination and I am not just saying that glibly," he told the Liverpool Daily Post.
"Just look what is available within easy reach. Go through the tunnel and you have Open venue Royal Liverpool, Wallasey, Heswall and others."
He also recommended visiting Mere, Sandiway and Delamere Forest in Cheshire, which is just an hour away from Liverpool.
Mr Petrie concluded that Liverpool has the "atmosphere and vibrancy" to be a great golfing destination.
Earlier this week, figures from Visit Wales highlighted that the nation has become more popular with golf tourists since last year's Ryder Cup.
