Lee Westwood upbeat despite slow start

Lee Westwood is not letting his slow start to the season get him down.

The Englishman tied for 15th place at the Omega Desert Classic, continuing his slightly lacklustre 2011.

In the previous two tournaments in his golf clothing, the world number one tied for 64th in one and missed the cut in the other.

"I'm not a great start-of-the-year player," the Nottingham Post reported the 37-year-old as saying.

"I finished the year off well last year, but I'm struggling a bit to get going this year. My glass is always half full, though. Having been through bad times in my career - much worse than finishing 15th - I am always able to enjoy playing golf."

Westwood finished poorly in Dubai, carding two sixes to slip down the leaderboard.

Spaniard Alvaro Quiros was crowned winner after a dramatic final round of 68 saw him claim victory by one shot.
