John Daly once enthralled the golfing public with his Wild Thing image but now he says he's more of a Mild Thing.
However, the 1995 Open winner does still have one wild element to his personality – his unique and often garish golf clothing.
"I've gone from being the Wild Thing to the Mild Thing, I have definitely mellowed with age and I am happy where I am in life," he told the South Wales Argus after the inaugural PowerPlay golf event at Celtic Manor.
Daly wowed crowds at the event with typically outrageous golf clothing – matching diamond patterned golf trousers and golf shirt.
He attended the Celtic Manor event despite pulling out of the recent BMW Championship at Wentworth with back trouble.
"It's lovely to play in the UK, wonderful, the fans are absolutely great here, they've followed me through the ups and downs of my career," he explained.
The golf world is buzzing with the talk of the new PowerPlay format which involves two flags on each hole and colourful pink balls.
