Golfers can 'express themselves' on the course

Golf clothing is currently booming as top players are making looking good on the golf course a major element of the game.

Ian Poulter, who has his own golf clothing design company, IJP Design, Rickie Fowler, Ryo Ishikawa and Matteo Manassero are all pushing the boundaries of on-course fashion.

Sean Hotchkiss, founder of the Khaki Crusader, said that iconic pieces such as cardigans, traditional golf trousers and collared polo shirts are being meshed with modern technology to offer players style and functionality.

Colour is playing a major role on the course and Mr Hotchkiss said it is the one place where a conservative player can "pull off a bright argyle sweater vest and feel appropriate".

He also noted the rise of accessories on the golf course as watches, sunglasses, coloured belts and snoods have started to make an appearance.

Mike McAllister, editor of Chapeau Noir Golf, recently claimed that golf clothing will become more personal and less homogenous as players become more fashion conscious.
