Golf has become a major part of what footballers get up to in their leisure time with many top stars playing off low handicaps.
However, the England stars in Fabio Capello's squad will certainly not be donning their best golf clothing this week as they have been banned from playing during preparations for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales, The Independent reports.
Players were permitted to play earlier in the week but it is thought that the management would prefer them to concentrate on football as the clash with Wales grows nearer.
The manager dashed the players' hopes of a relaxing game and told them to spend the day in their hotel room rather than on the course.
England are currently preparing for the crucial fixture at the Grove Hotel in the Hertfordshire countryside, which offers a championship-standard course, but they are unable to use the facilities under strict instructions from Capello.
Wales will host England at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday (March 26th).
