Through rigorous independant testing, all areas of the shoes were put to the test, including comfort, traction, stability, resistance to the elements and style. The Tour360 XT did not finish outside the top 2 in any of the categories, whilst the Tour360 XT SL finished top in stability, style and resistance to the elements.
adidas Tour360 XT SL
The new adidas Tour360 XT & XT SL shoes were launched earlier this year, both updates to the Tour360 golf shoe family which has become hugely popular over the past 10 years plus. For the first time in this iconic golf shoe’s history they adidas have included a spikeless version which will be paraded on Tour by Dustin Johnson and Tyrell Hatton.
More on the shoes
The adidas Tour360 Boost XT SL Golf Shoes deliver a maximum energy return during the golf swing through the energy capsules in the Boost sole foam cushioning. Not only does this cushioning add to the comfort levels of the shoes, it's technology is helping golfers to perform to their highest levels. The premium leather upper includes ClimaStorm technology to increase waterproof protection and also breathability. The 360 WRAP, which gives the shoe it’s name, locks the foot in place and keeps stability to a premium. Although spikeless, no grip has been compromised and the Spikeless Puremotion outsole and X-Traction primary lugs enhance flexibility, grip and balance out on the golf course.
Thoughts from adidas golf
When asked about the shoes and it’s X-Traction technology, Masun Denison (adidas Golf global footwear director) stated ‘We wanted to make the highest performing spikeless shoe in the industry. We tested all shapes and configurations and found that the X-shape, along with a rubberized TPU outsole, provided unmatched grip, stability, flexibility and performance. The X-shape also increases ground contact and provides more comfort on all surfaces.’
Little improvements make a big difference
The adidas Tour360 XT SL is also a more practical golf shoe, easier to keep clean and can be worn off course, therefore having a higher appeal than ever before. The introduction of a leather heel lining has removed the previous durability problem, and the new softness in the leather upper has also created a more comfortable golf shoe.
Tour360 XT, the spiked version
adidas Tour Professionals will continue to wear the spiked adidas Tour360 XT Golf Shoe for the most part, which has the more traditional Tour 360 silhouette. This version includes the wraparound 360WRAP which is lighter and more flexible for 2019. Whilst the new green friendly Torsion Tunnel X provides independent flexibility and control between the heel and forefoot, also giving enhanced arch support. An updated bottom unit features an 8-cleat configuration, TPU Puremotion outsole, strategically placed X-Traxion secondary lugs and Thintech EXP cleats for improved stability and grip where it's most required.
